"Man has a claim on God, a divine claim for any pain, want, disappointment, or misery that will help to make him what he ought to be. He has a claim to be punished, and to be spared not one pang that may urge him toward repentance; yea, he has a claim to be compelled to repent; to be hedged in on every side, to have one after another of the strong, sharp-toothed sheep-dogs of the Great Shepherd sent after him, to thwart him in any desire, foil him in any plan, frustrate him of any hope, until he comes to see at length that nothing will ease his pain, nothing make life a thing worth having, but the presence of the living God within him; that nothing is good but the will of God; nothing noble enough for the desire of the heart of man but oneness with the eternal. For this God must make him yield his very being, that He himself may enter in and dwell with him."

Praise the Lord! Ah!
Mood:  chatty
Tracy commited his life to the Lord at church today and prayed with a Pastor and another couple! God is SOO good! He answers prayer! He feels happy with his decision and is looking forward to seeing the power of God develop in his life! I confess that my faith has waivered regarding Tracy's relationship with God, but I rejoice in the Lord with this answer to prayer! Ahh!!!!!!!! God is so good. I pray that God would keep this newly planted seed watered and that Tracy would grow and flourish in to a beautiful tree who beareth much fruit...

Now Playing: Any News?
Yes, big news...Sister is pregnant!!!!!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH!!!!!!!!!! Now I'll never catch up! =) Baby #4 is on the way....here we go!

Still waiting to sign the contract for OUSD. After all the doubts and pouts--I think I'll take the job (if it's ever offered)!

Waiting to start student teaching in Hercules at Lupine Elementary. Can't wait to get that started!

I joined Walnut Creek Sport and Fitness and I love it! Although I do miss the heated Yoga. It was too expensive for this poor ol' student without a job. I've been trying to be balanced with swimming and other aerobics. Like always, consistency is hard to obtain. EEKS!

I talked to my Dr. today and he said I'm LOW in protein, calcium, iron, and blood sugar! YIKESIES! Guess I gotta get back onto the protein powder and vitamins! Oops! Other than that...everything looks great! Ha!

Life is good. God is continually showing me AND reminding me that He must be my Satisfaction. He is my Thirst Quencher. He is truly all I need. He is my Provider and my Dearest Friend. I'm grateful for His love in my life, today, and that He shows me that He is truly all I need to be content. I'm also thankful for the closeness I feel with Him on this Thursday afternoon.

Now Playing: Be Thou My Vision
Topic: Hymn of the Day
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

San Fran Outing
I went to SF the other day with a friend. I'm still sore from it! It was probably a bad idea to wear my black boots because my ankles didn't have much freedom for movement...talk about PAIN the next day (and the next day...and the next day... and the NEXT day)! Anyways, we had a wonderful time! We took BART to Embarcadero and walked a few blocks up to Chinatown. Our intention was to catch a cable car on our way, but we never did! We had lunch in Chinatown--Orange Chicken and Beef Chow fun (sp?). SO good! We walked to Ghirardelli Square where we had a hot BROWNIE SUNDAE with real fudge AND HOT CHOCOLATE with marshmallows!! Yum! Oh, SO good! Then we sat near the water and watched swimmers and sail boats. I put my feet in the water to relieve them a bit. The water wasn't too cold, either. In fact, we were tempted to jump in and swim to Alcatraz but the sun started to go down and I got REALLY cold. So, we walked to the Pier and checked out all the stores. We also got to go visit the sea lions who just couldn't keep their mouths shut..."Auurr....Aourr..." Uggg.....There were moments of silence here and there, but not much! It really is fascinating to watch them for a long period of time. After that, we walked to the Cable Car stop and while we were waiting we saw some AMAZING fireworks! We hopped on the Cable Car, then BART to home sweet home!

Am I?
I was looking through my journal this morning and found the following quote by an unknown author (or I forgot to write the author down):

I'm willing to receive what you send
to do without what you withhold
to relinquish what you take,
to suffer anything you inflict;
to do what you command
to be what you ask me to be
at any cost now and forever.

Am I ready? Am I truly willing? My prayer is that God would give me the strength to say "no" to what is not from Him and to embrace that which He sends to me, to rejoice in what He chooses to not give me and to count my trials as a joy.

"The will of God appears most frail when it wills what is most holy." How true this is!

How much?
Mood:  cheeky
I was talking to my little Habibi the other day. We were talking about a roller coaster he went on when he went to Lego land. He loves them and was asking me if I've ever been on a roller coaster. I told him that I went on one the other day that went upside down. He said he can't go on upside down roller coaster's cuz he'll fall out. Before we hung up I said, "I love you," and he said, "I love you too, Tia." I asked him, "How much do you love me?" He said, "This much," as his voice seemed to be stretching with his hands. "How much?", I asked. Then he said, "I love you from this end of the roller coaster to the other end of the roller coaster." Oh! He loves me SOOOOOOO much!

Beginning Salsa Lesson #1
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: Cha-Cha-Cha
Not quiet the cha, cha...but it goes something like this:

one, two, three, pause, five, six, seven, pause

Basic Step: ONE...Ladies start with right foot back: Men start with left foot forward. TWO: Ladies step with left foot: Men step with right foot. THREE: Ladies step right foot forward next to left foot: Men step left foot next to right foot. PAUSE. FIVE, SIX SEVEN: Same as ONE, TWO, THREE but ladies to mens steps and men do ladies steps. Are you confused yet?

Side step: ONE: Ladies start with right foot to the side: Men start with left foot to the side. TWO: Ladies step with left foot: Men step with right foot. THREE: Ladies step right foot back to left foot: Men step left foot back to right foot. PAUSE. FIVE, SIX, SEVEN: Same as ONE, TWO, THREE but ladies do men's steps and men do ladies steps. Not too hard, is it?

Cumbia: ONE: Ladies start with right foot behind left foot: Men start with left foot behind the right foot. TWO: Ladies step with left foot: Men step with right foot. THREE: Ladies step right forward next to left foot: Men step left foot forward next to right foot. PAUSE. FIVE, SIX, SEVEN: Same as ONE, TWO, THREE but ladies do men's steps and men do ladies steps. Do you feel like a pro now?

See...all you need to know is your left from your right and how to count. (I keep telling myself this!!)

Okay....somebody turn the music on and start dancing!

Important things to remember:

(1) Salsa is not boogie dancing. To have the right "Latina/o" move you mustn't bounce too much. Slide--glide in into every step.
(2) Your steps shouldn't be too big...they should be natural steps...keeping them close to your body.
(3) Elbows should be bent at a 90 degree angle above the waist. Don't flap them like a chicken...but gracefully move them to go with the music!

Hand in Hand: Ladies hold hands out with elbows bent, leaving space between arm and side. Palms face down, slightly cuffed. Wrists should not go above hands...keep hands above at a 45 degree angle. Arms should be sturdy so that the man can lead. Men hold hands out, leaving space between arm and side. Palms face up, cuffing ladies hands. When man steps forward he should also lead his partner's arm to go with step.

Most important thing to remember: HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!

One more thing: Don't look at your feet too much when you're dancing. I know that some of you are just beginners, but just avoid getting in to that habit. Look at your partner in the eyes or that's a little too "intense," look over his/her shoulder...just don't look down the whole time!

I went to a beg. salsa class today for the first time. Every Monday night from 7-8 in Orinda for the next 8 weeks.

Mood:  celebratory
It was easy for me to jump into the water yesterday afternoon after sitting out in the sun for some time. Allowing my skin to get hot made swimming a refreshing event rather than a treacherous plight. This morning, 6am, it was still dark when I jumped into the water. Watching my friend Abbie and mom jump in like it was nothing and start to swim made it even more difficult for me while it should've made it a little easier. I got in, eventually, and had the hardest time getting warm. I swam for an hour and still had the goose bumps! Eeks!

Now I'm off to get fingerprints and visit my new classroom! I got a part-time job as an Inclusion Support Specialist in my old placement at Montera Middle school in an Autism/Asperger's support program. Wow, a real teaching position---crazy how God works things out. God's showing me that when I wait and trust, He honors it! He worked all things out according to His purpose and timing! What an amazing God. It'll be sad to say bye to my friends and kids at the Lynn Center, but I guess it's just time to move the tent to a different site. I'm looking forward to the upcoming year. Praying that God will use me in the lives of these young kids and that He would be honored in all I do.

It's gonna be a great day because.....GOD MADE IT!

Now Playing: Job 37:5-13
God thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend. For to the snow He says, "Fall on the earth," And to the downpour and the rain, "Be strong." He seals the hand of every man, that all men may know His work. Then the beast goes into its lair and remains in its den. Out of the south comes the storm, and out of the north the cold. From the breath of God ice is made, and the expanse of the waters is frozen. Also with moisture He loads the thck cloud; He disperses the cloud of His lightning. It changed direction, turning around by His guidance, that it may do whatever He commands it on the face of the inhabited earth. Whether for correction, or for His world, Or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen."

All nature is controlled by God. Although, according to our human understanding things may seem out of control, God causes all things to happen....whether for correction, for His world, or for lovingkindness. God causes all things to happen.

Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Isaiah 25:9-13
God gave this verse to me today:

Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker-- An earthenware vessel among the vessels of earth! Will the clay say to the potter, "What are you doing?" Or the thing you are making say, "He has no hands?" Woe to him who says to a father, "What are you begetting?" Or to a woman, "To what you are giving birth?" Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "Ask Me about the things to come concerning My sons, And you shall commit to Me the work of My hands. It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands and I ordained all their host. I have aroused him in righteousness and I will make all his ways smooth; He will build My city and will let My exiles go free, without any payment or reward," says the Lord of hosts.

God has sovereign rights and purposes as a Creator over His creation and a Father over His children.

A Right Time To...
Mood:  happy
I was reading the following verse in Ecclesiastes in the Message Version and it shouted out at me like never before.

Ecclesiastes 3:2-8 (The Message)

The Message (MSG)
Copyright ? 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson

2A right time for birth and another for death,

A right time to plant and another to reap,

3A right time to kill and another to heal,

A right time to destroy and another to construct,

4A right time to cry and another to laugh,

A right time to lament and another to cheer,

5A right time to make love and another to abstain,

A right time to embrace and another to part,

6A right time to search and another to count your losses,

A right time to hold on and another to let go,

7A right time to rip out and another to mend,

A right time to shut up and another to speak up,

8A right time to love and another to hate,

A right time to wage war and another to make peace

I have been struggling in my understanding of God's timing. I've been walking through life, minding my own business and then something comes up...a job, a task, a relationship. "An opportunity," I think, or, "God remembered me!" As time let's the circumstance play itself out, I have met nothing but disappointments in the end. Things were going so well or things seemed like they were really going to happen! "That job was perfect for me and I really thought God put it in my hands." BUT, God had other plans. He creaks the door open, let's me peek inside and then slams it shut! Ouch! I think He's tired of me asking "why?". I know I'm tired of me asking, "why?".

After reading this passage, I feel covered with the guilt of trying on my own to understand God's ways. Trying to figure things out and analyze circumstances in my life has only caused more frustration. God is telling me to just accept. So, I will. His timing is perfect! He makes ALL THINGS beautiful in His time, right? Yes! A promise! A hope! This season, my life has appeared (in my own eyes) to be full of disappointments! However, as I look at my life from God's perspective, this season has been full of God's ever-so gentle guidance, protection, and love. God has His best in mind for me and I only want His best. I am grateful today, for He has shown me the blessings of my present life and has given me glimpses as to why He has lead me on my present path. It is when I take my eyes off my Savior that I become fearful, doubtful and disappointed. May we embrace God's appointed timing for all the circumstances in our lives and live knowing that God has His best in mind for us!

Hand Stands..Zipididoodah!
My yoga teacher said that doing a hand stand for one minute is good for the adrenal glands...she had us do them in class the other day. I've been practicing at home, too and just finished getting done with one (with the help of my mother). I have a hard time kicking my feet up--I'm too scared! After I got my feet up, I was up for 63 seconds total! =) I got this wave of energy, too! If you ever need a little zing and don't have any caffeine, just do a 60 second hand stand. It really does work and the feeling is marvelous!
